Meet The Team

Alyx

Alyx Parker

Automatic Instructor – Exmouth, Exeter – RoSPA Advanced Driver

Alyx lives in Exmouth with her husband and daughter. She has worked in the NHS since leaving university where she has held a variety of roles within the RD&E NHS Trust. Most recently, she has particularly enjoyed training others which has played a big part in her decision to join the Driving Dynamix team! She says:

“As long as I can remember, both parents have been involved in the road safety and driver training industry, so it is something I’ve been interested in for many years.

Since the start of my instructing journey, I’ve enjoyed a lot of excellent feedback from clients which is so lovely! They say, I’m calm & friendly, methodical and encouraging – really good to hear!

For me, the best bits about this job are to see pupils overcoming the mental hurdles that get in the way of learning, and generally sharing in their success whether it’s when they get the hang of something new, or when they ultimately pass their driving test and head off on their own!”

Colin

Colin Matthews

Automatic Instructor – Taunton, Exeter – Former DVSA Driving Examiner

Colin was a DVSA driving examiner from 2005 to 2023, conducting a wide range of driving tests for cars, motorcycles, taxis, and tractors. For a long period, he was a test centre manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of many test centres across the South West, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in conducting driving tests.

Colin returned to teaching in 2023, training under the watchful eye of Gabi, and has since enjoyed great success with his pupils’ passes. He now offers automatic driving lessons in Exeter from Monday to Wednesday, as well as 2-hour automatic lessons in Taunton on Thursdays.

With his examiner background, teaching experience and calm, supportive approach, Colin brings a strong understanding of what is required for safe, confident driving and test success.

Having returned to teaching, I’m finding it incredibly rewarding and satisfying. It’s a real privilege to be part of someone’s learning to drive journey!

Gabi

Gabi Humphries

Manual Instructor – Exeter – Former DVSA Driving Examiner and ADI Examiner, Diamond Elite Advanced Driver.

Gabi started training to become a driving instructor in the summer of 1993. Over the subsequent decade she built upon the framework laid down by her husband, Cliff, and his brother, Sid Humphries to develop what was Humphries School of Motoring, into a thriving driving school, offering all types of driver training from learner to advanced, minibus to Driver Improvement courses (in association with Devon Drivers Centre), and supporting people back into driving following traumatic incidents on the road (in association with Road User Support Service – RUSS)

From 2003 to 2018, Gabi worked as a driving examiner for DVSA (formerly DSA), conducting all types of driving tests, including the L test, taxi and tractor tests. Early on in her career with DSA she was put forward to conduct the qualifying exams for the ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) register which was her main role for over five years.

“Coming back to teaching has been a breath of fresh air! I love my job and I look forward to going to work every morning! With my long association with all sorts of driver training and testing, I have a wealth of knowledge to share with our clients and this gives Driving Dynamix the edge. When it comes to helping you pass your driving test first time, no-one is better placed to help you achieve your goal!”

Sharon

Sharon Vickery

Virtual Assistant – Exeter based.

Hi, my name is Sharon and I work behind the scenes at Driving Dynamix! I have been supporting Driving Dynamix for over three years with the admin bits for the school. I schedule the pupils lessons, answer the queries and inquiries, book the practical tests and a bit of bookkeeping. To sum up I keep the school ‘on the road’!

In the past I worked at a busy holiday park where I was the Office Manager and responsible for over seeing the bookings there, so this experience best places me to put the schedules together for the instructors. When I’m not working, you will find me out and about with my dog, Freddie, doing a bit of gardening or hanging out with my grandchildren!
